I'll just say as someone who works professionally doing this, the bulk

Meh.... So in other words, unless you're the owner of the quant firm you're working at, you are still a corporate slave.

Your flex of the fact that you haveyour firm has superior data, superior infrastructure, superior hardware, superior algorithm and superior profitability is a complete moot because 1) "professional traders" working at a quant firm actually don't get to have any of the massive profits theythe firms they work for generate and instead they live off paycheck handed to them by their boss and 2) they do not have the same level of freedom successful individual/retail traders have and 3) successful individual traders actually don't need any of the superior stuff you guys use in the giant concrete box that you call your workplace in order to succeed.

I cannot emphasize more on the fact that employees working at quant firms and individual/retail traders have clearly different goals. The former seek to work for someone else and receive steady paychecks. The latter seek to become their own boss and become financially independent. The difference between the two doesn't end here--we also don't need the same technology or same skill sets or same amounts of returns, so don't even bother flexing your infrastructure, hardware, etc. so don't brag about any of the cutting edge tech youyour firm has.

Including the guy who wrote the infamous "some final words" post a while ago, I've seen quite a few of "professional traders" contempuously flexing on us retail traders in this sub. You are the newest one of them. Just don't. We don't even wonder about what kind of superior technology and superior data corporate workers use (and when we do, we only do because of mere curiosity), let alone feel inferior about our lack of the need to use them.

To any "professional" algotraders feeling the need to flex on, look down on or otherwise disrespect retail algotraders like this person I am responding to, please keep all of this in mind and stay humble. Despite all the superior technology and superior data you have access to, you are still a humble corporate employee with no freedom being stuck in a cubicle and competing with coworkers and dealing with narcissistic bosses, and there are retail algotraders living better and freer lives than you specifically because of the fact that they chose to become retail algotraders rather than a mere employee at a quant firm.

I normally don't write this rudely but this time I had to. I completely agree this sub's quality is absolute shit and most people here have no idea what they're doing and that's why I don't really come here that often anymore, but I felt the urge to express my disgust on this comment of contempt and delusion of grandeur. In particular, the third paragraph is not only absolutely irrelevant to this post but also its sole purpose is to spew out contempt and make himself/herself feel superior over retail traders.

Let the downvotes come. I honestly don't care.
