One hot Friday afternoon I was waiting for a letter I needed urgently. We're the last block of the route and I was on my porch waiting when I saw the carrier get into her vehicle at the corner of the previous block. She turned around and split. No mail delivered to our entire block.

I called the office, they apologized - and made a remark about 'not being surprised'.

Next day, a substitute carrier comes by juggling a huge stack of mail. He said our carrier went on vacation and he's likely carrying the mail she didn't finish delivering.

She was our carrier for a few months before this incident, I never saw her again.
