A travelling podcast advice? Do I really need all that shit?

If you want to record two or more people in the same place, you are likely going to either need some kind of audio interface or audio recorder. The Scarlett 2i2 and the Zoom H5 and H6 are popular options. (This Zoom is not related to the videoconference company)

A cheaper option is to use an omnidirectional mic, but you’ll probably find the quality is lower.

If people are recording separately, you could just use USB mics and feed them into your own computers. Communicate over Zoom but record locally in Audacity or GarageBand.

There is a lot of good quality used equipment at the market (because of so many failed podcasts...) and they can be a huge discount compared to new.
