Tularemia question

I sure hope little man is being treated broad spectrum and tested further. I once caught 3 snails 13 tadpoles 33 frogs and a massive tick in my scalp during a single camping trip when I was 7. We were in a marsh area.

My cousin and I brought the proud catch back to the camper to show off, and it scared my mom to pieces. Our dog noticed the bucket and ate one of the frogs that jumped out onto the deck in a quick gulp! Noooo! He died a year later at 4 years old.

Telling you because we didnt know you could get sick from it or obviously wouldn't have gone frog catching nor would my mom let us play by the river if she did.

But also because I haven't felt well since (!) and was dismissed for years with weird symptoms of "unidentified nixed connected tissue disease". It was parasites. n therapy was told it was trauma from the embarrassment of bringing home unwanted animals.

I contacted a parasitologist 20 years later. I have been diagnosed with multiple parasites non-endemic to the area. People who catch them do so in endemic countries playing by rivers and forgoing shoes.

And there's only supportive treatment.

Muskrat, chipmunks, beavers, rabbits, opossum, racoons and birds of prey can carry tulerimia, schistosomiasis and lungworm as well as lagochilascaris, baylisascaris, pelodera strongylidosis, plague. And a whole ton of ectoparasites and fungi, bacteria that aren't exclusive to wild animals. They'll mess with humans.

As for the snail - you're going to want to dispose if it far away from water. Chuck it over the fence if a nuclear plant. Boil it and throw out the pot. If you don't know. You're unlikely to find appropriate testing. Just make sure its desd and throw the whole pot out. If it made your kid sick - get it out of your house.

Schistosomiasis can co-exist in any of the above animals espevially birds but humans too. Theres also weird mites and bots from wild rodents. I would look into most recent publications of tulerimia and snails infestations. Print out even the oddest examples. Contact the doctors who studied or published the info outright. Many will be eager to share their opinion or guide your physician in treating you.

Neglected zoonoses are emerging. Don't listen to someone who says its not likely but won't test further. Tuleremia is not likely and deserves a followup for years.press on for that follow up.

Not to say your boy is sicker than he is. But please refer to the experts on rare issues. And monitor. Theres just so much unknown and untreated that may have started withva fishing trip to the creek.

Just opinion here, but I'd throw out the whole fish tank and buy a new one if you think he wants one. Don't let him catch snails anymore obviously. But don't feel silly asking and asking until someone gives you a scientific answer besides, I doubt it. Use Prazicure in your tank and around the entire area water could have splashed, kid touched. Etc.

I don't let my kid play in or around rivers like I dod as a kid only because I won't go around rivers after what I've been through.

Get rid of the tank and no more snails. Report any weird symptoms.
