Yes I am from the US. I don't want to come off as being overly mean on this sub.

If a drunk British man really got beat up in a bar over calling someone a Yankee, then that makes me think less of those people offended in the bar. I understand that the term is often used with some negative connotation. But it's used relatively little anyway and it doesn't really have a negative meaning inherent in the term. (There is a team called the NY Yankees with a wildly popular hat)

I never use the term outside of this sub anyway so I was just thinking that we need some way to refer to ourselves without confusion. Let's just go with giving someone the benefit of the doubt while we are in this sub.
