What was your experience a with private or shared room after c section in a public hospital?

I’ve had two C-sections - first was I was put in a private room, my husband was allowed to stay, care was great and overall was very happy with my experience.

Second time I had a shared room, which I was aware I could get and normally wouldn’t care but didn’t enjoy at all. My husband couldn’t stay, which wasn’t ideal but nothing I could do about it.

What really annoyed me though was the complete lack of privacy and consideration of others - my room mate was constantly calling people on loud speaker and keeping the light on all day and all night, so I was exhausted. My baby also got moved to NICU after going downhill suddenly and naturally, I was upset about it as I couldn’t go with her due to my spinal not having worn off yet but got told to cry quietly (I wasn’t even loud?!) by a midwife as I was making my room mate uncomfortable - wtf?! If I were to have another baby, I’d definitely consider going private because of this experience.
