The $1 Reese's cups originally cost more than all these groceries, $8.80

Went shopping to buy ingredients for peanut stew, before e-coupons for free pasta and cheap sausages expired. Wound up hitting the 99¢ clearance produce jackpot. The 2-lb bag of Reese's cups supposedly would have cost $11.99 (zoom in) before it was marked down. Instead I paid:

10.80 Kroger
-1.00 SavingStar
-1.00 Ibotta
8.80 total

  • The collards, garlic, ginger, jalapeño and a bell pepper went into the peanut stew.
  • Half of the 6 (!!) still-firm avocados will become guacamole and tuna salad; the rest will be either sardine sandwiches à la Alton Brown or avocado toast.
  • Some of the pineapple will broil with brown sugar and ginger to top cottage cheese; a stir fry with peppers and turkey kielbasa is also likely.
  • The celery will go into tuna salad (with an avocado) and split pea soup (with the green pepper).
  • The Reese's cups will be passed around at meetings at work.
