I think in the straightforward-ness, the sentiment (?) was lost, which is of course always a risk of that particular style of communication. And the uproar was mostly caused by a combination of 1. what some people most wanted to hear in that time was a genuine sentiment accompanied by objectively large action, and I don't think Techno's tweet accomplished either of those (the point is arguable that it wasn't his obligation to provide that). And 2. people spending their energy attacking a good-intentioned action that really didn't have any quantifiable negative outcomes instead of creating good results, like fundraising in their communities, spreading deeper awareness, etc, because one of those things requires more time and effort than the other.
