Why I am angry

I feel you brother, I used to think that anyone who wasn't angry all the time must not be paying attention, now I think it has more to do with benefiting from the death of the planet and of course, human supremacy.

Every day I hope that the dominate culture will voluntarily abandon the inherently insane and unsustainable model of capitalism based on production and consumption and adopt some sort of restoration and remediation model where we reward making the world a better place for all life. When that day comes I hope to use my self taught mycorestoration techniques to help stop top soil loss from erosion caused by building roads. There's obviously much more to using mycelium in ecological restoration and remediation practices like naturalizing hydrocarbons in water and soil and hyperaccumulating stuff like heavy metals and even radiation from soil. I just like the idea of actually helping to build topsoil while simultaneously helping to stop further soil erosion and acting as a catalyst for the return of native grasses, plants, insects and everything else!

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, but I'm curious about what you mean when you say that "We need to imagine the world we want to actually live in and then work to make it real. Our ancestors did this in the past (see the pyramids, Machu Picchu, cathedrals, the Amazon rainforest etc etc etc)."

I don't want to come off like a jerk, I like you, you're obviously someone I would like more than most people and I for sure don't claim to have the answers to anything, let alone how to move beyond industrial civilization but I feel like I see this sentiment a lot and (as a person of native and Latin American descent) it confuses me that we should look to the early paleolithic civilization builders for answers on anything let alone how best to live. I'm thinking of that awesome opening line from Stanley Diamonds amazing book In Search Of the Primitive, "civilization originates in conquest abroad and repression at home." I mean weren't we as a species hunter gathers for like all of our entire existence save for like 23 thousand years or so? I mean I love aspects of "ancient" Latin American civilizations I guess, I just wish people gave more credit to hunter gatherer cultures, I don't want to copy them or appropriate indigenous wisdom or culture, I just think they have a lot to offer.

Most of the time I don't bother commenting on reddit, it's usually not worth the hassle but I wish this sub was more active with people sharing how they feel like you did, good stuff.
