Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

It's not related to science pack but since you're making some changes to some mechanics/recipes, how would you consider making some changes to assembling machines?

Like...

AM1: 0,65x speed

AM2: 1x speed (Same as player)

AM3: 2+x speed

Sounds ridiculous, but first, listen to me. I've been thinking about this. Since making automation and taking advantage out of it is big part of factorio, these changes to AMs could increase gameplay experience more. Think about it.

AM1 is essential part of first automation. And it's current speed is way too slow. I mean it should be slow, but not that slow. This way you can get the feeling that you just made your first automation but it's slower than your crafting speed. And it's normal. It's very first step.

Then you jump to AM2. You are more experienced in R&D and you can build more efficient machine, one that can crafts as fast as you. That's the AM that you can use biggest part of the game (almost from very beginning of the game to the end of the game, specially now that new AM changes are on the way). So i think 1x crafting speed would be great. No extra gains or losses.

AM3 is used for megabases. 1.25x crafting speed is better than your crafting speed and when you combine this with beacons and modules, you increase production significantly. But this machine is also peak of automated production. It should be more rewarding without beacons or modules. Its crafting speed should be 2x or higher.

That's just my thoughts. I'll probably get a lot of hate but still...
