The tie does not exist pure for the amusement of amateur researchers. I really think this is ridiculous and I personally don't want anyone in the amateur research community putting their hands anywhere near the ACTUAL evidence in the case. I mean come on, dude. This guy is gonna Lenny the precious little we have to go on here. The only reason it's even still around is because the FBI has been extremely cautious with it. Yeah, they lost some stuff, not this. Leave the fucking tie where it is safest until DNA technology becomes cheap enough and widely available enough to really narrow down the different sources of DNA contributors.

Too many tempting possibilities could potentially happen if left in the hands of those who have something to gain from the evidence materially.
