Amateur MMA fighter taps out for his opponent

You're factually wrong.

I just watched the first seconds of the full fight and the other fighter (Jeremy) had a good take town. The problem is that you can immediately see the difference in skill as Mike flips him over and gets to his feet. This is hands down the most dangerous and submissive position you can be in as a fighter, shoulders pinned and legs in the air, because you have absolutely NO POWER and you can see Mike just pummel him.

Holy shit, talk about being factually wrong. If you don't know anything about MMA or grappling, then that's fine, but don't pretend you do. Guard is absolutely not the "most submissive position you can be in," and many skilled grapplers prefer it over top positions. You have a huge plethora of submissions and sweeps from guard, along with being able to control your opponent quite well.

It's clear Mike had superior striking easily. It's also clear to me that Jeremy was a grappler looking to take the fight to the ground. He got rocked with some solid strikes, but he continued to push forward and actively engaged in trying to get the takedown. He would have most likely fared pretty well on the ground, considering Mike didn't even attempt to prevent the mount, and Jeremy appeared to be actively trying to get an arm bar and a heel hook during their scramble on the ground. Mike didn't want to be on the ground, Jeremy did. If we actually saw the fight continue, it could have easily went to the ground again.

The fact is, they both came there to fight, and it wasn't like Mike was just beating up some poor defenseless person who was trying to get away from him. He was taken down by Jeremy once, was trying to prevent the takedown the rest of the few minutes he fought, and Jeremy continued to come at Mike, despite taking a few solid shots. It's obvious Jeremy couldn't stand and strike with him, but that's not what he was trying to do. Amateur fights end in knockouts, that's part of the sport, I've seen much more brutal fights than this. Hell I've had the occasional training session where I've taken as many hard shots as Jeremy took.
