Animar Combo Help!

My work schedule unfortunately doesn't allow me to play many competitive EDH games, so when I do play, it's only casually, though I play against friends who do play seriously. From all the playtesting I've done, I do think the deck has some serious potential but it's susceptible to getting wrecked if it falls behind. Needs a little bit more money thrown at it (I have like 6 different decks).

In pods, one of the best ramp cards I've found is [[Tempt with Discovery]]. Yes, it can help your opponents, but in pods, it can rocket you way ahead (And you can search any land, not just basics!). [[Spoils of Victory]] is another good one.

The thing with mana rocks against ramp is that, with ramp, you'll have an easier time picking out exactly which colors you need. You can also bolster that by running [[Evolving Wilds]] or [[Terramorphic Expanse]] instead of [[Unknown Shores]]. To me, the Shores is a waste of a land. The "any color" is tempting, but you only need three colors, not all of 'em. EW and TE let you get a color you need without spending a neutral on it.

You also have to tailor your deck to your meta. If your playgroup runs a ton of land destruction, then mana rocks would be the way to go. I have a friend who swears by the signets ([[Gruul Signet]], [[Izzet Signet]], and [[Simic Signet]]) and I tend to agree. You can hit them turn 2 and they ramp you one mana, too. If you feel like your lands are relatively safe in your group, you can go the ramp route and start cranking lands out and terrorize your opponents early.

I don't know them by heart, but look up combos with Deadeye Navigator. That card can turn games quickly, and I believe there are several infinite combos it has with other cards, including [[Palinchron]], but that card is $10.

If you want to be competitive, you also need a [[Krosan Grip]]. That card, in my opinion, is one of the best in affordable, modern-era Magic. You could stand to lose a few creatures in favor of other cards without hurting the overall makeup of the deck.
