Anime is for fun, but can this subreddit be more serious?

Sure, the OP was intended provocative. If this wasn’t the biggest left wing anime subreddit, I wouldn’t bother saying anything.

Without heavy moderation, the emergent behavior of any subreddit won’t be optimal. But scrolling down (and I check this subreddit out a few times a year), this place seems like even worse than the average anime subreddit? Like for a lefty anime subreddit, I would want to see at least some relevant content. Surely among >10,000 members, if we’re all regularly consuming anime and political content, we have our intersecting thoughts on the matter.

I saw an Oshi no Ko screenshot today, which is the most anime out this season. But I did a search bar and typed in “Oshi no Ko” and “idol” and I couldn’t find anything. I have some content bookmarked on the abuses of the idol industry I could share for instance, although I don’t know a whole lot about it. But I would like an online space in which others who are passionate about the subject can chime in and share stuff I don’t know. And maybe there are others out there who do, but it’s kind of hard to charm in when you have these memes that fill all the space. I have better luck in just the main Anime subReddit to find useful comments.
