Anybody live in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood?

Hi!

Thanks for answering these questions! I appreciate your insight on the dynamics of the neighborhood. You can offer a perspective that I can't get due to not living in the area. In that regard, it is totally ok if you don't know something!

Your answers will only leave this message in general terms and with complete anonymity (if I need to submit a source for my information). Especially if you choose to answer the income answers- I will be using ranges of $20k. That question is optional though.

What is your age, gender identity, occupational industry, income, and education level (high school, some college/ in college, associate's/master's/PhD)?

What are the demographics that you observe? Ex: income estimation, race and ethnicity, age, etc. Are there a lot of families with children? Single-parent/ multi-parent?

If you've been there awhile, have you seen a shift?

I'm really interested in your income estimation of the area. I can't seem to find any current data beyond the 2010 census, which is half a decade old. Populations tend to move at a much faster rate.

What about rates of observable overweight-ness/obesity?

What's the rent like?.

What's the make-up of your street?

Are there any other grocery stores besides Safeway on 39th and Powell, Trader Joe's on 39th and Holgate, and the Natural Grocers on Gladstone and 34th(?)? I'm discarding Fred Meyer on Hawthorne and 39th for two reasons, it's more than half a mile away, and the people living in C-K who don't have a car (and might work multiple jobs) may not be able to make it there.

Questions regarding SNAP:

Do you happen to work at one of the grocery stores? If so, have you encountered many SNAP recipients? What do they buy? Absolutely no judgements here- I personally don't care, and as a SNAP recipient myself, I have been guilty of buying pleasure foods on occasion.

This also applies if you've been behind a family as they pay with SNAP?

You seem to have a lot of convenience stores! Have you observed them being busy? Do they sell anything remotely healthy (like fruits and vegetables)? My speculation is that due to the scarcity of grocery stores, a lot of SNAPsters buy their food there.

What is the observable crime level? I heard from a friend who lives in the area that there are sometimes open drug deals.

Do you feel safe walking around at night?

In that vein, what are the parks like (Powell, Kenilworth, and Creston)? Clean? Shady?

Any other observations worth noting?

This was long! Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions!
