Was anyone else kind of disappointed by the last few episodes?

YES! The story changes dramatically 2/3 of the way through.

They do a lot of really good set up in episodes 1-5 and there seems to be this intentional characterization that's being turned upside down. It's a similar experience when two close friends have had a fight when you weren't there. You hear one side and think "oh man, fuck that guy" but then you hear the other person's side and become a bit confused.

All this set up about Tyler being a criminal that couldn't catch a break and how John was helping him so much and then, what I believe was an intentional, story telling turn to make it seem like maybe it hadn't actually been a suicide and that perhaps Tyler was setting up John and manipulating/brainwashing Mary Grace and may have even murdered John.......then what?

Switch to 1.5 episodes about John's gay life and how gold was mixed with mercury and sprayed on all kinds of things and wait......WTF? Spent WAYYYYY too much time on this aspect but I guess gay is all the rage in story telling now. Gotta get in the gay storylines so we have broader appeal because "gay sells". Way too much exploration of this storyline for my tastes but whatever.

I dunno - it's quite an odd ending to be sure and leaves so much unresolved. The whole Rita story line was just abandoned. I don't think he even referenced Rita in the last 2 episodes.

I don't know. Maybe I'm being too critical but that's my impression. Perhaps I should listen to it again.
