Has Apple "protecting their IP" caused the 3rd party repair industry to consider everything trade secrets, and in turn caused us to lose our good human nature?

Your type are what ruins the reputation of quality independent repair for the rest of us.

Exactly. We run two retail stores, have 10+ full time staff, offer warranties, etc. As such, we aren't the cheapest around but we honour our timeframes, have solid processes and help our customers out. We don't even try to compete with these bottom of the barrel repairers. We've seen shocking repairs come back through us after people cheap out.

I'll share an email we received a few years ago from somebody that went to one of these repairers. We helped them out gratis.

I recently brought a voucher off '[daily deal website]' to get my iPhone4 screen to be repaired.

After buying this voucher I dropped my phone off at the address which did not come up on Google Maps it appeared as a carpark. I went to the car park and texted the man and he came and picked up my phone. He said his address did not come up Google as it was 'an apartment'. I ignored this comment and handed over the phone (this was at 11:00am on the 11/08).

I was told it would be ready at 5:00pm. I went back to pick it up and he kept making excuses why my phone wasn't ready. He told me to wait 10 minutes and then it would be ready.

After waiting an HOUR AND A HALF I was handed my phone. When I got home nothing worked and it was broken. I couldn't play sounds, change my phone to silent, hear anyone on the phone who called or hear the home keys as I typed.

I contacted him and he said he would fix it. I dropped my phone of at 8am this morning and received it at 3pm.

I now cant receive texts, make calls and its constantly going out of reception saying 'no service'.

I am appalled with this man and am shocked that [daily deal website] let a 'business' like this appear on their website.

I now have a broken phone that does not work. It worked perfectly before even with a cracked screen and now I am left with a phone that does not work at all.

All he has to say is 'we have done our best'

Therefore, I am wondering [our company] team can help me out. My phone now says 'searching' and never has any reception. This only occurred since the phone had its screen replaced. I am trying to back up my phone but cant because I keep getting an error message.
