I think a group having 900 photocards for an album is too much.

1) first of all, the numbers aren't accurate

2) some of these are packs of non-random cards, it's like New Jeans album where you get a whole pack of 20+ cards that match one member so you don't need to trade for your bias

3) a lot of these are pre-order bonuses, they don't come in albums at all, you get them randomly depending on what store you ordered from, A LOT of Kpop groups do this but most fans don't even know about it unless they are a card collector or looking them all up to drag a specific group. (If you ever buy a Japanese release of a Kpop group go look up the preorder bonuses you can get depending on the store you buy it from if you're in Japan, they can have cards/clear files/posters/ etc, it's crazy. Amazon Japan will usually give you a big board with the album cover on it. Once again, this is something not a lot of people outside of Japan know but certain fandoms will dig them all up to drag others even though they have bonuses too) Once again, they don't come inside of albums and very few people even collect those, only the most hardcore card collectors.

4) The Koreaboo article talking about this and showing Kpop albums left in the trash and streets, none of them are Seventeen albums. They couldn't even find any pics of trashed Seventeen albums for the article they wrote about Seventeen. There are plenty of people who will gladly take a free SVT album even without cards.

It's fine if people hate photocards but this is not a Seventeen problem, this is a Kpop problem. It's especially bad with HYBE. New Jeans OMG has 200+ with 5 members but like I said, they aren't all random and some are pre-order bonuses. The cards are adorable and the group is loved right now so, thankfully, no one is dragging them but as they go higher and higher people will start attacking them too. It's selective attacks on whoever people are currently angry with for breaking a record or some other reason.

I always encourage people to boycott buying Kpop albums if they feel uneasy about the runaway capitalism. The vast majority of Kpop fans are buying one album and most either don't collect cards or just trade the one they got for their bias.

However, let's not pretend this is about just one group. Also, no matter how many albums versions or cards Seventeen have they break their record every time. They have less versions than face the sun and still sold more. Your Choice album had less cards and versions (3 versions, 3 cards per member per version) and it still outsold the album before it that had more.

I wish they would cut back so Seventeen would stop getting attacked, their sales and streams will still go up anyway as they always have.

Sorry I wrote a novel, and this wasn't directed at you OP, I just replied to you so my comment wouldn't be buried.
