Yes, and i too worry about coming across like a bitter hipster or “not like the other girls”. But when i like something, it feels like it becomes part of me and it’s very personal/private. When i suddenly see that thing everywhere, it suddenly feels compromised for some reason. i just can’t stand seeing everyone else involved in it. i can’t justify feeling that way though.

I also struggle when things i love become trends. It’s overwhelming for me to suddenly see something that i enjoyed researching (and i enjoy the effort of having to research/find more about unknown things) being everywhere, in my face.

If i’m being reaaaaally honest too, i will admit that being knowledgeable or interested in something no one else is, probably is an attempt to set myself apart in some way. but that’s why it’s personal and i’m possessive about those things. because it’s part of my identity that trend-followers don’t share.

Anyway, good to know i’m not the only one who feels this way!
