Honestly the Richard Gere and Shilpa Shetty thing blows my mind still lol and yes our patriarchal culture is awful. However much men complain about arranged marriages, it won't be done away with in India because it primarily benefits men. It also makes Indian culture very asexual in public, and the repression causes a ton of other issues in public and private, which is pretty globally known at this point.

But, a lot of the history of East Asian women in America since their first few migrations waves have been in prostitution, and the violence against them recently kinda makes me think we shouldn't follow their path. The fact that so many of them can just shed off the Asian patriarchy when they arrive is a huge positive, but it seems so unbalanced for them... I'm not sure why, maybe it's that they're too indiscriminating for white guys? Which attracts lower quality men like the ATL guy
