Bend Officials Have Reinstated an Advisory Strongly Discouraging Tourists From Visiting -- All short-term lodging facilities are asked to stop accepting bookings for vacations through Labor Day.

If you run an AirBnB and you cancel guests reservations, you take a huge ding to your rating. You lose preferred status and it can take a year to recover from that.

I’m wondering if contacting AirBnB and telling them that the city has voted to ban vacation rentals, if we can get that waved, and cancel everyone without the penalty. Honestly, I’d very much like to block the whole rest of the summer on our rental, even if it means going into a hole for the mortgage in July and August. I’m just afraid of the long term repercussions to our host account.

Had someone message just the other day, coming from South Carolina, saying that all this COVID nonsense was blown up news garbage, and asking if they could have a comfortable vacation in bend, or if they’d be asked to wear a mask everywhere.

Told them we very much expect masks, and have been looking into any loopholes we can work with AirBnB to just cancel their booking.

Guh... it’s become increasingly clear that anyone who is vacationing during a pandemic is not the sort that takes a pandemic seriously.
