The Gate That Must Not Be Named happened and there was some disagreement on certain issues. Then some fans threw a temper tantrum and things got a bit ugly. As far as I recall, Matt and the Hatman handled it like adults on their respective sides* but since this is the internet, you are not allowed to handle things like grown ups. Everything must be a massive drama and for some reason, the fans of YouTubers, games, websites or whatever feel the need to be upset and angry on the behalf of the person or thing they like.
Personally, I wish Hatman would stick to doing videos about options menus and sliders. That's a good niche to have and those videos are useful, at least to me. When it comes to social and political commentary, I wish he would take his own advice and just stay away.
To try to bring this slightly back on topic. I guess it comes down to the age old problem of idol worship. Once upon a time, you were not allowed to like both The Beatles and Rolling Stones. Rockers and Synthers were at war. Boy bands have been idolized and can do no wrong. The latest thing has been that kid Bieber who tends to act like a dick but his fans defend him anyway. I guess it's a question about maturity in the end. Sooner or later, you realize that other people are not perfect and that it's perfectly fine to agree with parts of what someone else thinks and still criticize other parts. I know I don't agree with every actor who's films I like or every musician who's music I enjoy. Jeremy Clarkson is a gigantic dick but I still really enjoy watching Top Gear. Sad that it ended the way it did but the show was getting showing its age. The gags were getting a bit old so I doubt they could have kept it up for that much longer anyway.

*It's possible that I missed something here because I'm not a Twitter user and I dodged most of the social media that was even tangentially connected to video games for a while there because of The Gate That Must Not Be Named. Please correct me if I am wrong here and feel free to use PM to not drag this thread down the dirt as well. I'll edit this post if I need to.
