Well for starters, team fights. Asta only ever defeated Ladros by himself. He always works together to win fights. He had Guache help him defeat Sally, Finral & Vanessa to beat Vetto, etc.

Keeping side characters relevant and powerful.

Giving us a powerful, well written female protagonist.

Having Asta not be a complete idiot who forgives his enemies. He doesn't accept Ladros fake plea for mercy.

He does embrace shonen troupes because that's apparently what is needed in order to survive in the magazine. (RIP Red Hood)

The point is that those old troupes were very flawed, and he simply did them better. But now the writing has become a bit stale.
