The blog covers why “WE” don’t want a slider

I can to some extent understand your decision process, however I do want to somewhat dismiss the notion that all console players sit far away from their screens thus requiring a lower FOV. From my surroundings, this simply is not true. This can be either because their living/bedroom seize doesn't allow it, their TV's not being large enough forcing them to sit closer or because they're playing on monitors.

While I'm leaning more toward the competitive side, my friends and family could be considered complete casuals; they play once or twice a week, just want to have some fun and while winning gives them a good feeling, it's not that important as just having fun playing. Out of the 8 I play with regularly, 6 either play on a monitor with a console or sit close enough to their TV that it takes up most of their vision. Similarly, when I play on console I play on a monitor.

While that is anecdotical sure, I still think that limiting the FOV due to the notion console players all sit far from their TV and would experience negative effects if it would be higher, is just not based on what's really happening. My guess is that my friends would also like to be able to adjust their FOV, they just don't visit Reddit and this sub to let you guys know.
