I'm in a different fandom, but your words really resonated. I am older than you and new in a fandom where I found myself being passive-aggressively bullied by a someone of a similar age. The worst part was that I thought they were a friend, and then they suddenly started ostracizing me without any explanation. I fought it the same way you did. I didn't react but stayed positive and was kind to those who were kind to me. I wasn't going to go away just because another adult decided to act like a child, but the monstrousness of their behavior and the fact that no one seemed to notice, made me feel horrible. I wondered if others were taking part in it too. Maybe it's the medium or the platform, but I naively thought I'd passed through that the period of such behavior in elementary school.
