Can anyone pls explain how mental health treatment work?

Hi again! To anyone reading this and i might say something wrong kindly correct me. I'm just also helping OP with the best knowledge i have. And hey i'll be learning too if you point out any mistake or misjudgement i had. Hopefully i dont sound too

  1. Psychologist - more with the thought process and how you react on those thoughts. Or going to the roots of your behavior. Psychiatrist - they do this do, but they are more on diagnosing (for the lack of better term) so they can prescribe meds which is/are suitable for you.

  2. Meds/no meds?

  3. I understand where you coming from. Let me share my experience with you. I went to a psychologist first, (no meds, psychotherapy only) but since my emotions (or lack thereof) interfers with my daily activity, (missing or always being late at work, staying in bed all day and then feeling guilty about it afterwards, feeling worthless, and all those negative things) and i can't get myself out of it. I decided to seek help for a psychiatrist. And the reason relates with the next question

  4. How do meds/treatment works?

  5. I understand those things too that it may be all over my head and im just overreacting. But remember that mental health might be psychological AND/OR biological. May have or no trigger at all. [I think that is why other people belittle the situation, since its too simple to be depressed about. But then the chemicals in our brain tells us so otherwise)

Personally, thats my dilemma with meds as well.. placebo, dagdag gastos, what if it might backfire and i will be dependent dun, the lists goes on. But here's some thoughts i had din, I accept the fact na I kelangan ko nga ito.

I will take my meds but I will not rely on it. Yes, it helps me to fall asleep and brings my appetite up, so I have one - two things to worry about.
