The case for taking Jamie Drysdale at #5

Wouldn’t create this thread without expecting some debates so I appreciate that!

Just to clarify, I meant two players who are true number one defensemen (or even true number one pairing defensemen). Anyone can PLAY on a first pairing... hell Dylan Demelo did most of the year. I just think having the ability to have two absolute game changers on the back end would be such a strength for the Sens.

Additionally, while Drysdale has good offensive upside, I wouldn’t necessarily classify him as an OFD. Some scouts don’t even project him as a PP1 guy. I truly wasn’t sold on this guy a few weeks ago but when I went back and watched a bunch of his games, and was blown away with how he uses his speed and stick skills to shut down the opposing team’s zone entries. It’s honestly incredible and think it would be such a strength when defending a very fast Atlantic Division.

I’m not sure I understand the challenge regarding the forwards. I completely agree some centres will need to be shuffled to wing, and I think your list just goes to show how strong our forward depth really is.
