Why ChatGPT style interfaces won't replace Google

When I interact with this technology, depending on my needs I don’t ask for one response. I ask for 15 or more different options. I’ve also asked for the source of its data when requesting recipes, legal information, and things of that sort. Also asked for state specific information, free and paid tools for use cases, functionality of various Amazon technologies, and granular chemical properties.

Obtaining all of that information would have taken hours and days to get using scrambled Google results. This is a godsend and as someone with a mind that synthesizes information from various sources across the Internet, it allows me to do higher level thinking by not drilling down into 1000 results from Google that increasingly has bad or ad sources mixed in its results.

Voice search and AI chat are not comparable to me. If I ask Siri for further details after asking a question, Siri provides a list of Google search results which renders it practically useless since I have to waste time reading.

If you format questions to ask AI for detailed steps, plans, comparisons, examples, lists, or multiple options it becomes very useful.
