Claymore Volume 4 END and Volume 5 Start - Official Re-read and Discussion

:-( :-( :-(

Aaaand here it is in .gif form!

Reading through this again, I realized how tragic Priscilla's character actually is. She had excellent latent abilities, but so little experience, yet the Organization sends her to take down the #1 warrior anyways. They probably knew what was going to happen, sending an emotionally unstable child (with no/little experience with youki release...it's one of her selling points!) to a scenario where she's obviously going to need to release that youki. She was doomed from the start. Perhaps the Organization just underestimated how much power she actually had, or maybe they just didn't care? It's not like they show any sympathy towards the warriors anyways... I also noticed a few context clues surrounding Priscilla's awakening that shed some light on a reveal that happens much later in the series but by themselves don't seem like much now. She narrates her own awakening, which isn't bad in itself, but she refers to herself (well, her awakened form really) as "the thing that awakened." I think this shows the disconnect between her human self and her awakened self, and ties into Dae's theory about how she put a block on herself just before she awakened, how she used the last of her humanity to maximize the chances on being killed one day, and how she hates the monster she became, but literally couldn't stop it from happening.

Anyways, all aboard the emotional train! I'll be your conductor as we try to hold back our tears long enough to honor and memorialize Teresa of the Faint Smile into our hearts forever.
