The Combat Update: Hopes and Speculations

I think a blazebow with built in fire aspect would be a pretty nice. I like your ideas for the bows with different types of wood.

Let's assume that these woods are very similar to their real-world counterparts:

Oak:

  • Oak is a very strong and hard wood.
  • Oak is not very flexible, so it would have higher draw weight, and draw time
  • I say that Oak bows should take slightly longer to draw, do more damage, and fly farther
  • The texture for the bow should stay about the same
  • It should also have higher durability, because it is such a strong wood

Birch:

  • Birch is a very light and flexible wood, so less draw weight
  • It is very easily worked
  • It should take slightly less time to draw, not slow you while drawing, do less damage, and fly farther
  • The texture should be changed to a recurve bow, with the tips pointed slightly forward, which, in real life, compensates for the high flexibility of the bow
  • It should have about the same durability

Spruce:

  • Spruce is very commonly used as a building material, because it is lightweight, flexible, and very common
  • It lasts for a very short time when unprotected, because it isn't resistant to bugs and diseases
  • It should have about the same draw time as the current bow, about the same damage, the same slowing effect, and go about the same distance
  • It should have much less durability because of the low lifespan of the wood
  • It should use basically the same texture

Acacia:

  • Acacia is essentially the same as birch
  • It is an aromatic wood, so maybe some effect could be applied

Jungle Wood:

  • I'm going to go with mahogany, because it makes the most sense
  • Mahogany is a very flexible wood, and is very durable, because of the straight fine grain
  • It should be like birch, with higher durability
  • It's jungle wood, so why not make it poison?

Dark Oak:

  • It's oak, but dark
  • What can I say, it's the same, but dark
