Community Bathroom - Darley North

All 6 of my choices were an attached bathroom and I don't know how I ended up with a community one but that's fine.

Less than 10% of rooms on campus have an attached bath.

I'm nervous about using a community bathroom because I take quite a while to get ready for a guy at least. I like to shower when I get up and do my hair and makeup. That takes me at least 30 minutes if I'm really rushing but if not an hour. I also curl my hair. I feel quite awkward doing all those things in front of a bunch of other dudes since it's not really "normal".

CU is not a super judgmental place, but YMMV. If you are concerned about people judging you for doing your hair and makeup, I'd consider living in Hallett's spectrum section (or whatever they're calling it next year). Nobody would think twice about your morning routine there.

Personally, I wouldn't care about you curling your hair or doing makeup, but I would probably would've despised you for hogging up space in the bathroom during peak times. On the flip side, in an attached bath space, there's a solid chance that your room/suite mates would royally hate you for hogging the bathroom all morning.

Is there even enough room to do my hair and makeup in a community bathroom? I don't want to be rude and hog up a sink. Also I don't understand how community bathrooms even work. I like use a lot of stuff and it seems inconvenient to me to lug all the products I use back and fourth everyday. Like is there even room for me to set down the amount of things I use?

No, not really. There's usually only about 6-inches between sinks, and a couple of inches in front/behind a sink. You'll definitely need a bathroom tote (or two), which you'll then set on the floor.

Also do people just shave in the shower? It seems gross to me to have your hair all over the showers but I don't really know where else you're suppose to shave...

Faces generally got shaved at sinks where there was a mirror. I (thankfully) don't recall ever seeing remnants of body hair in my community showers.

I also heard a lot of mixed reviews about William Village because of it being off campus.

Popular, but unpopular to share, opinion: it sucks. Unpopular opinion that this reddit prefers: It's amazing! It feels like home! It's the best!

Good news: I think Sterns & Darley have sinks inside the room.
