Considering Purchase

I loved prison architect its a neat building and management game but its way too easy, nothing ever happens if your competent. The poor optimisation and bugs eventually forced me to stop playing after 74 hours, although I'd say I got kind of bored after about 40 hours. I never could finish the campaign because a bug made it impossible to even start the 4th or 5th level.

Rimworld is a great building, management game with real time combat which is almost completely devoid of bugs. Things happen and stories tell themselves without your intervention. The storytellers send you events which keep things interesting, Randy sends them completely at random so you never know when something is going to happen. You can approach the game many different ways and mods expand that a 100 fold.

The game receives regular updates with good chunks of content. The most recent update changed the world giving you a full world map and added caravan's, transport pods and the ability to attack raiders.

If you enjoyed the building and management of Prison Architect I think you'll like Rimworld. The depth in Prison Architect is like a puddle compared to Rimworld though. Rimworld isn't what I would call a hard game in fact there's difficulties ranging from dead easy to insanely hard so anyone can play it. It is a game however that takes time to learn and master.

I picked up Oxygen Not Included after it was mentioned on this sub and I think it's a good game but it's still very bare bones with not a lot to do, similar to how Rimworld was when it first launched. I found its a lot more complex than Rimworld in some ways since you deal more heavily in managing your environment with airborne elements and natural resources. I think there's enough in common between the two games that if you like one there's a good chance you'll like the other.
