D.C. issues record $1 billion in traffic and parking tickets, AAA calls it 'predatory'

No problem! Here’s my dumbass story: forgot insurance card. Forgot to go to the court house to prove proof of insurance. Apparently that became a Failure to Appear [Misdemeanor]. Pulled over. Arrested for a $0 warrant. Book and release. Looking at a misdemeanor plus failure to provide insurance plus now suspension of license plus court costs plus possible few day jail sentence and fine... the judge I was assigned is notorious for not giving a fuck if you forgot to pay a ticket and will fine the shit out of you, charge you with a misdemeanor along with other miscellaneous things.

I DQ’d her. Fuck her.

I was reassigned a new judge. Nice guy. Heard my case with me and my public defender. He thought it was nuts. Joked about me being an idiot and to not make the same mistake again. Misdemeanor dropped. I paid an infraction and a fraction of the court costs over a 6 month period. Initially it was 3 months, but he understood that life happens.

5/5 stars.
