LITERALLY what happened to me, I normally don't go to Reddit to reach ppl ever, first time was this weekend, a weekend for Christ sakes! and guess how many DMs i got after i posted i wanted new ppl to play maybe be friends with? to my surprise ALOT, but than after like literally the initial awkward hey (as if we were on some weird dating app) got ghosted by 90% of the messages literally after just a "hey you down to play" comment, like wtf. I'm down for new friends and all like sure" I guess basic communication is a lot to ask for these days, if anything on this post resonates with you hmu I'm down for most games looking for new game buddies.
