I think it's more that people have varying views of what would make things better and many would be okay with a dictator / 1 party rule if they thought those in power would implement those changes.

We have to just remind people that, as I said above, people have varying views on what is right and that is the point of democracy so 1 group can't indefinitely force their way against the will of everyone else. We also cannot trust giving anyone or party absolute power, the good intentioned can die off or be purged out and the worst end up in control instead or even if you are okay with bad people so long as they are hurting the people you think you hate, there can be a counter-coup and turns against those who supported the former.
