He's manipulative and ridiculous. Why would you have to give him $2000/mo just so you can have your son? That's not how any of that works.

Maybe talking to a lawyer would ease your fears. I get irrational over custody issues, too, so I get it. I saw a lawyer about it once and they talked some sense into me, eased my fears and also told me what was realistic (all dads will get some visitation and possibly partial custody if they ask for it and do as they're told by the court). The lawyer also gave me advice on how to protect myself and what to say and what actions to take to put myself in the best possible position if it ever went to court.

It's pretty inexpensive for a consultation. Mine was free. It's worth it, whatever the cost.
