Why did main stream media during the Iraq war spread mostly pro war ideology and propaganda? How did this benefit the media coverage? Did they convince public we needed a war just to get better ratings?

At the time the mindset of most Americans was already pro war do to the events of 9/11 and a general demand for justice for the attack. Politicians and media companies simply at the time used this to there individual advantages to get ratings, donations and election victories. It’s not media and government working together it’s both looking out for their own separate interests but always requiring to go with what the general public or their viewers/voter base believes. This is why Afghanistan was mixed and why as time went by and the general public began having a lower opinion of the War In Iraq the groups changed tune, even adults I know who are (against endless wars) I remind that they had separate views only a few years ago.
