DLSU or UST?

DLSU SHS is a very welcoming community, I’m from STEM (121) and it’s quite terrifying tbh. We’re trimestral so you’ll take a course for like 13 weeks only. Then, units is about 8-10 (closer to 11) per term.

In terms of orgs, huge assortment! You like music? We have a pop and orchestra. Dancing? We have cheer and dance orgs. Journalism? We got both English and Filipino. These aren’t even all the discipline covered by the clubs and organization.

DLSU also have exchange programs abroad for SHS students.

I would note, however, that DLSU is after all a research institute and once you enter, you’ll realize why. Final assessment for almost every course, if not all, is a research paper, case study, project proposal, or insight paper. We are also big on advocacy projects.

I will be frank, DLSU was never in my options, I applied cause I was bored. Wasn’t planning to go, but after I met the people in gcs, I was like, yes this is okay.

One more thing, if you go to DLSU SHS, you’ll automatically have a spot in DLSU college (if the admins don’t rescind this so lots of battles with them too)

Seems like I’m talking about pros so much and looks like I love it or whatever. Please, I always say that I wouldn’t reco it even to my worst enemies (/s). But seriously, the only thing that made it bearable for me is the org I’m in. Academic-wise, it’s consuming. I do work in the middle of birthday parties, while traveling. Currently working on our research paper during term break.

If you plan to go to med, DLSU Manila doesn’t offer medical courses much. We do have humbio which a handful of my friends got into. But I would suggest going to a uni where you see yourself in college in so that you’ll get accustomed and will know the ins and outs.

Btw going to DLSU means you have live with the stigma or misconception na “rich kid” “hindi nakapasa sa ibang uni” “bayad lang para pumasa” etc.

Then, can be both a pro and con, most of our profs in major courses are college profs so they treat you as college students.
