Doctors did a tracheostomy on my dear mother (60+) without my or her permission.

Yeah. All that can happen in the normal course of a patients treatment. One minute fine the next I'm having to call for suture and a big ass clamp.

I know it's hard to believe but you don't know what you are talking about. Your gut instinct is usually wrong. Mine and yours. The only one who knew enough to make the decision was the doc. And he only knew because of his years upon years of education and training. But he's still human.

You're trying to make sense of something you don't understand. And it sounds like you don't have the background to understand the nuances of what the doc is talking about. Maybe he said exactly what you are saying but maybe he didn't and you are garbling it. I don't know but it sounds a lot like you don't either.
