Why does everything have to be about romance? They are fucking cousins?! (Ilúvatar flair for only he can save us now)

It’s alright. I realize my comments were a bit aggressive, it is normal for you to misunderstand. I call it still unhealthy, not because of the audience, but for Tolkien’s true intention. Movies have great graphics, great war scenes… but they do not give the messages Tolkien wanted people to see. For the audience, they might as well take the movie as the true story if they like it better.

Same goes for fan fiction writers. If they want to think Maedhros and Fingon are a couple, they can think about it as if it was a part of the story. Even I tend to add little details to the books I’m reading to make myself enjoy them better. It is the true intention ofany book, not to tell a specific story, but make the reader feel and think on it.

But telling everyone it is canon and “if you don’t see it, you are homophobic” is not nice and is cruel. Cruel to the reader, cruel to Tolkien’s legacy. It was my intention to express this in this meme but I can see I failed.

And yes, no one should restrain themselves of imagining just because Tolkien wouldn’t want it that way. But as a writer myself, it makes me feel sad that people can manipulate other people’s stories and make other people believe their version is the truest one.
