Does Parks Have a Blaccent?

It's interesting. I've always felt like if you picked something up and you use it genuinely and correctly, that's one thing, but if you use it in a way that's clearly just supposed to get a laugh, that's another. Like when a lot of white guys say "the homies" and it's their friends from their finance job or whatever, it's obvious you're just making fun of the way black people talk. Ditto for white girls on Twitter.

And then there's little things, like people who aren't from the south saying "folks" or "y'all" to seem down to earth or whatever. Who are you really emulating when you do that?

Parks is more in that category with the little phrases he gets off now and then. Not making fun of anyone really, but it doesn't feel natural, either. His "whatevah" is especially cringe. Like bro we know you don't pronounce that word like that, because you don't when you use it in an actual sentence.
