I don't enjoy Streetlight like I used to and I have no idea why. Help restore my faith!

"The Three of Us" is a hell of a song. I listen to it and get shivers, as it's beautiful both musically and as a story. One thing that kinda refreshes my love of Streetlight is listening to how that song evolved over time into what we know it as now.

When it was played at Warped Tour, and only had the first version of the first verse and a chorus. It was short, but it was new, and the fans ate it up.

Then it grew. The lyrics for the chorus and the first verse were refined, maybe even the horn parts some too. Then the new transition chorus ("They will not defend us" etc). It grew into a good 3 minute song, and was definitely great. But it wasn't done, and they knew it.

And then it was finished. It went from being just a verse and a chorus that were catchy and blunt, and turned into a story of loss, regret, and faith. Listen to the fans sing along. I get frission from this.

If that's not enough to bring you back, just think about how crazy talented these men are as musicians. If I'm not mistaken, everyone but Tomas is a college trained musician. They are good at what they do. Not only have they made their own style over the years, but can even translate their songs into other styles. One of my favorite videos of them on YouTube is when they performed Sick and Sad in a Dixieland style. Every one of them pulled off this change in style perfectly, in my mind. And Jim Conti owns that clarinet.

Lastly, just think about how amazing the lyrics can be. I'm not afraid to admit that I've teared up to some of the songs. In particular, one that gets me is the ending of A Better Place, A Better Time. The sincerity of the last verse, followed by the incredibly simple, yet powerful "But I can't" is beautiful. I also posted a thread the other day about how impressive it is for a young Tomas to write lyrics as deep (for a ~16 year old) as As The Footsteps Die Out Forever.

I hope some of these things I pointed out help you rekindle your love for Streetlight!
