This is honestly one of the better takes I've seen on the series, if we were to change the art style to something more modern. The outlines are nice and visible, and so you could easily keep the boiling lines effect to preserve the show's signature look. The chibi look is kind of controversial, but this version at least keeps Edd and Ed looking decent, however I don't think it fits Eddy so well. I'd have to see how it shows the backgrounds or scenery though to really get a feel for it.

Personally though, if they were to pick it up, I think they should just keep Season 5's style. It was still digitally inked, so it wouldn't require them to retool their animation infrastructure, but it doesn't look dated imo, and it would make the show stand out from the other reboots a bit. CN has a serious problem right now of a lack of interesting new original content, and while a reboot of EEnE isn't really a solution to that, it would feel somewhat fresh to younger viewers, especially if they added in new characters or made a sequel instead of a strict reboot.
