The offers provided have caused an uproar amongst senior navy leadership. Two camps have formed, made up of officers who either support integration with Western aligned powers and those who support further ties with the east. It has proved impossible to acquire both systems simply because of the volcanic situation in east Asia. Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas is a stalwart supporter of Chinese naval systems and a shift away from US control. He emphasises the lessons learnt from the civil war where US embargoes hampered the Nigerian war effort severely.

Meanwhile, his second in command and leader of the opposition camp points out that they would be getting a superficially better deal by going with the Type 054A+ instead of the Japanese 30DX Frigate. He believe the 30DX frigate would create an excellent opportunity for the Indigenous Nigerian defence industry. He also highlights that the 30DX would allow Nigeria to Avoid both US and Chinese restrictions since new weapons systems could be procured and integrated into the existing systems.

For the latter half of the previous year, the arguments have raged back and forth. This has brewed an environment for serious corruption with funds being misplaced and bribes passing across both sides. The government has failed to step in and for a time it looked like neither ship would be procured.

That was until Vice Admiral Ibok was found dead in his apartment due to apparently natural means, leaving his faction in disarray and allowing his secondary and now new CNS, Vice Admiral Peter Ike, to take charge of the process. His

u/Isfahan-Arclight After careful consideration, and all the events detailed about, Nigeria will buy the 30DX Frigate under an industrial and technological transfer. Because we are aware that Japan will want to prevent sensitive technology from being leaked, these ships will be built in NNY Lagos, while the type 056 class is built in NNY Port Harcourt. The 4 type 30DX ships will be paid for at $400 million per ship but this is to include the joint development of a missile of comparable performance to the ESSM but without the risk of US Export control. We would like the ships all delivered within the next 5-6 years at a rate of 2 ships at a time (or slightly staggered.)

We will pay for all ships in 4 to 6 instalments for a total price of $1.6 billion (not including the cost of developing the new Surface to Air Missile).
