Few general questions with my new Reolink Setup (Duo Floodlight POE + 811A)

If you use the search line here on Reddit you can find a lot of info. Also check out Reolink's community site, Youtube channel reviews about Reolink cams such as LifeHackster.

  1. Reolink sets as default going to live view with a recent alert. I agree with this, if something is happening now you want to see what's going on. After a few minutes if you haven't looked at an alert it by default goes to the playback recordings., the event is over. No way to change this unless Reolink would change the firmware.
  2. Again this is by default in the firmware. It's easy to quickly scrub further in the timeline, put your finger on the little red outline and head right. Just above are the detection events, any motion, vehicle, person. You can uncheck them to get to certain events.
  3. I don't think there are best settings, it's up to you how you want to record. I and others have the cam cards record by person vehicle (and pet for some) while the NVR records everything 24/7.
  4. I have four 811A. It doesn't matter if you use the phone app, client or NVR to zoom in, they all work the same to me. Make the field of view that best fits your situation.
  5. I don't know about using a second app, my wife does not want it.
  6. I think it depends what cams you have, if you bought the bundle cams/NVR or the cams separately, they have different firmware. Please read the first post "Please Read Before Asking For Help." It explains the difference.
  7. Mine goes Router to POE switch, POE switch to NVR LAN. There's other ways to do it. Reolink support shows other ways if you want to look.
  8. You did not say what firmware you have so I'm guessing. My 811A have beta pet detection and trigger when the neighbor's cat comes in my yard. In the app you can adjust the sensitivity for vehicle, person, pet, experiement with those. If you don't have pet detection go to Reolink download page, compare your firmware to the newest version, download the new version to your computer and install the new firmware. Reolink explains how to do this on their support site and on their YouTube channel. My neighbor uses a trap to catch the squirrels and releases them in the country. Or you could enclose your garden with a fence LOL.
