Why do you get so mad over an I.D?

Here's a story from 30 minutes ago when I took my brother to gamestop:

I'm 19, my brother is 17.

My brother really wanted a game that was on sale for $30 on PSN(usually $60), but didn't have the money, so he wanted to trade in older games for the money, so I decided to take him to Gamestop. Usually I'm against him trading in stuff just to get new things and spending all his money, but this game was on sale, and all his friends had it and wanted him to be a 4th party member online, and he made promises to me to get certain things done.

He has some rewards card with Gamestop that he uses. However, since he's not 18, it's under his fathers name since you need to be 18 to get a card. He doesn't have the card so he just tells them we have a phone number attached to it. I told them it's his fathers card since hes not 18, but I never made it clear who I was.

It's just after the holidays, so the whole store is packed, and we can be heard across the entire store. Because of this crowd, people are obviously going to be upset if things take too long, especially if it's for a dumb reason.

So here's where the fuckup begins. They ask for a birthdate. I'm asking which birthdate they want. The cardholder(my dad)? Mine? They also needed an ID. I wasn't sure why they needed it. Was it to confirm I'm the cardholder? For legal reasons since its a trade in to prevent thieves from pawning stuff? They say they just need someone over 18.

The confusion goes back and forth for a couple minutes trying to figure out if a drivers licence is a valid id, if I should use my father's birthdate because it's his card, or use mine because I'm here, etc. You kinda had to be there. I think the woman working there must of been new because she wasn't very clear in explaining what was needed.

So I give them my birthdate and show them my ID, because I'm the one trading it in, right? Well the guy on the other register was in disbelief. "Wait, the guy with a '96 birthdate is his father, what???" At this point the conversation has been going on for probably 5 minutes and the whole store is basically staring at us and everyone can hear. Partially my fault because I tend to raise my voice when things like this happen.

At this point I realized the confusion and made it clear I'm his older brother, not his father.

Eventually it all gets figured out and we're finally good to go. Apparently the woman made a mistake and they don't need to collect this info if we're only trading in for store credit. "I'm too sober for this" says the woman at the register, and we leave.

FUCKING GAMESTOP
