TIL Charles Whitman (Texas Tower shooter) asked to have an autopsy after his death to see what caused him to kill. After the autopsy it was discovered that he had a tumor pressing on his brain, which could have been the reason for his shooting.

Close friend accidental killed himself while messing with his gun. He was a good guy, married, had a great job. But he was irresponsible by cleaning his gun loaded. He was not well trained with it but because of this agenda to NRA pushes people like my friend who was not well trained at all was able to go get a gun and have his accident. No the NRA is not responsible for my friends death. But, I personally, believe to own a gun you must be tested heavily. I even mean have the person be put throw high stress situations with a gun. We honestly do have far to many untrained gun owners out there who truly believe it's bad guys with guns who do the killing. But untrained gun owners who believe "it's the bad guys," are dangerous people to have out on the streets with guns. The gun community has researched a point where it's either we are gonna take war on government if they even utter gun control. But the fact is as a gun owner (mainly collector, firing pins out of most) I understand that certain actions towards guns are not bad ones. I don't want guns to be taken away but if we as a gun community can't acknowledge flaws that need to be fixed within gun legislation then it only forces government to take them away as a whole. I mean what's so bad about smaller mag sizes or stricter processes to get a gun. Or since we don't allow criminals to buy guns, what's so wrong with not letting people who have a history of mental illness not buy guns.

So if you really want to know who pissed in my food it's the fact that I lost a friend because he was able to get a gun when he wasn't fit to own one. Not everyone is fit to own one and that's okay. But people like the NRA and it's followers make me sick on how they blindly follow a group that really only has the backs of sales for gun companies. I still have buddies today that I know are very irresponsible with their guns and it's scares me. People need better training and buying a gun shouldn't be something I can do before sleeping on it. People shouldn't be able to just walk into a gun store and leave a couple hours after with a gun.
