I love cats but I've never had one, two of my exes have cats, one was an orange Tabby who was affectionate towards X1, after eyeing me over a few days one day he spontaneously jumped on my lap and slept, it became our routine, the days I came from college to her place he would do that and the days I didn't I would get pictures and audios of him meowing around where I would arrive from. With X2 it was a grey kitten, they had trouble getting along with each other, but when I was around she wouldn't leave my side for anything, X2 would constantly say things about "how my cat only likes me and hated her", when we started to drift apart she started to go out and would only come back when I came around.

My dog loves me like that, and I love those cats the same way they seemed to love me back. The thing is each living creature has an attitude and personality, we can't expect them all to behave the same way.
