r/BostonCeltics Official Big Board Voting: Day 2

Comments from yesterday:

Jahlil Okafor:

No prospect this year is more elite at one skill, than Okafor is at post offense. He is big, quick, with a soft touch and incredible wingspan. He is going to come into the NBA and immediately give you elite offensive production, while having the length to become a Roy Hibbert style defender in the paint some day.

His post skills would be amazing in the eastern conference. There is really no one who could keep him in check.

I'm worried about what his impact would be to the spacing in the paint. I can see him getting in the way of IT a good bit. Post skills on a big man don't come along very often anymore, but they are also becoming less useful. It's a tough call as to where Danny would put Jahlil on the board. My guess is he's glad he will not have to make that decision since there is no chance the Celtics will find him available while they are picking.

I would guess Danny has him at closer to 4-5.

His combination of low post offense and passing will make him a very tough cover defensively. The problems are his defense and free throw shooting. I'm surprised that such a polished offensive player is so poor at the line to be honest.

I think his defensive issues are overblown a little. He's absolutely huge, and I see no reason why a guy with his IQ offensively can't become a serviceable NBA defender. I think Brook Lopez is the best comparison for Okafor, except he's not as much of a black hole and he's a better passer.

D'Angelo Russell

Do we really need another guard? I feel like guard is our strongest position and we would do better to get a scoring 3 or a big

I'm not sold on Bradley as our long term starting two-guard. I think he is an ideal 6th man though.

Smart and Russell would complement each other very well in a back-court. Their skill-sets are perfect. I think Russell should be #2 on our board behind Towns.

Russell is going to be a top notch scorer at the next level. The type of guy that we can go to, to get a bucket anytime we need one. Even thought the Celtics have plenty of guards, they don't have plenty of go to scorers.

Willie Cauley-Stein

I can't see putting him at number 1. I'm even hesitant on him at #6 right now.

Some of his comments have me a bit offput. However, he will be an excellent defensive center in this league for as long as he stays together mentally. I have a feeling it's going to be hard to keep him interested though.

Emmanuel Mudiay

I expect Mudiay to slip to 6 and become a bust in the NBA

I think he will surprise people. To me, it says a lot for a guy to go to China and have the maturity to wait on the bench and come in and contribute when his number is called. I think he's actually one of the highest character guys in the draft. For that reason, I don't think he will be a bust, unless he's drafted by a terrible organization who can't develop talent properly. (Sacramento, New York)

Having a PG who shoots less than 60% from the line will be difficult though.
