I don’t understand hate for Quebec. It’s like hating a 17 year old for being anti-establishment. They’re not important enough to make anything actually happen with that anger, and it’s frankly kind of adorable to watch their confident self-perception of being so unique when they’re basically the same as everyone else.

It was kind of annoying being threatened with violence when overheard speaking English, and having my ex’s friends insult her for dating an Anglo with me standing right there. And for a francophone area, the food was surprisingly mediocre. But the winter got cold enough for good rinks to play on and the beer was cheap, so all things considered it was pretty nice.
